Bug’s Bikes was born out of a Lemonade Stand Bug asked to have in August 2013. He raised just over $2000 over 3 days. We decided we couldn’t stop there, so we created Bug’s Bikes, Inc. so we could continue helping Bug raise money for his friends to have the opportunity to have their own bikes just like he has his!
Bug gave his first bike away to 5-year-old Sienna Brown on October 2nd, 2013 and WOW! What an amazing joy it brought to each and every one of us. To see the joy on Sienna’s face when she received her bike made us all want to do it again and again and again! 8 year old Chris Tocci is was bike recipient number 2 and received his bike over the summer of 2014. It was his dream to keep up with his sister on a bicycle instead of his chair and that dream has come true! Seeing the looks on these children’s faces when they get to ride a bike for the first time is FUN! Help us make more children smile!
What started as the whim of a big-hearted child to help make others like him happy has become a family and community effort to provide the childhood experience of riding a bike to all children. Riding a bike should be an opportunity all children have despite their ability, disability or agility. Bug’s bike’s goal is to provide adaptive and therapeutic bicycles to children with disabilities as well as to provide parents and as well as therapists and providers with the information and education they need to choose the appropriate bike for each child. Our focus is solely Adaptive Bicycles.
We can’t do this with out your help. A basic adaptive trike is running between $600 and $1000 depending on the disability and the adaptations needed the price tags for some children can run as high as $3000 or more. We need your help to make bikes a reality for as many children as we can. Let’s help Bug raise money for “Bikes like mine for kids like me!”
We have Delivered, ordered or approved grants for 6 bikes so far in 2014 and we are not done yet! You can help us grant more bikes and put more smiles on more faces by visiting the Shop and Donate page and making a Donation to one of our two funds.

The “Tokens for Bags” program is where Buffalo Exchange customers are given a token worth $0.05 in place of a bag. The customers then choose one of three charities to donate the $0.05 token by placing the token in a box. At the end of the 6 months they add up all the tokens and donate the cash value in the form of a check to each local charity. Since Buffalo Exchange started the program in 1994, we’ve raised over $627,000 company wide for thousands of local nonprofit organizations and kept 12.5 million plastic bags from polluting the environment!
Bug’s Bikes token box will go up in January, and be up through June 2017
If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out the Buffalo Exchange, it is a pretty cool place where you can bring your no longer being used fashions to be exchanged for other clothes or cash. The concept is pretty cool and worth checking out, and not just because they are supporting Bug’s Bikes.
You can Donate on our webpage by using the Shop and Donate page. There is of course a little cost in running a non-profit, but we are volunteer based and run out of our home, therefore keeping our costs to a minimum. Your donation will go toward Bug’s Mission of providing bikes.
